It was a cold day in Wilmington, but it didn't stop our members and dancers from marching up King St. in Wilmington.
John Carney, the Governor of Delaware, declared March "Irish Heritage Month". All of the Irish organizations in Delaware were invited to the Governor's office for the reading and signing of the Proclamation. Representing The New Castle County Irish Society were our President, Phyllis White Pini, Bill Hickey, Cathy Jones, and Carol Reilly.
Our friends at the Irish Society of Delmarva are sponsoring a St. Patrick's Day dinner/dance on March 17, from 6:00 to 11:00 P.M. at Fraizer's Restaurant, 9 East Lockerman St, Dover, DE 19901. The doors open at 6:00 P.M. and the Corned Beef and Cabbage Buffet will start at 6:30 P.M. Live music by Folk Heroes is from 7:00 to 11:00 P.M. There will be great door prizes, "Basket of Cheer" and "50/50" raffles, and an auction for a weekend stay at the Hyatt Place, Dewey Beach, DE. Tickets are $30.00 per person and must be purchased by March 12, no tickets sold at the door. A free glass of beer with each dinner ticket and a free CD of Irish Music to every couple.
