Founded in 1993 to support Irish Culture through Dance,
Community Activities, Social and Cultural Events

A little information about the New Castle County Irish Society

Our Irish Society was founded in 1993 by a dedicated group of people who wished to support Irish Culture in our area through Dance, Community Activities, Social and Cultural Events.

Throughout the year we hold a variety of activities at our Irish Center that include dinners, breakfasts, concerts and other events.  In October, we hold our annual "Fest" and in December, we have a Children's Christmas Party where Santa visits and passes out gifts to the children and grandchildren of our members.  You can check the "Current Events" page for a list of what is happening each month at the Irish Center.

We offer Irish Ceili and Set Dance lessons from September through May for beginners and experienced dancers. For further information on these classes contact Mary (Lessons at NCCIrishSociety.org) for Beginner and Experienced Ceili lessons or Bud (Lessons at NCCIrishSociety.org) for Set lessons.

A monthly Ceili is held from October through May, including two Potluck Dinners during the winter.  The public is welcome to join us in a enjoyable evening of great music and Irish friendship .

Our newsletter, the "
LEPRECHAUN", is published monthly to inform our members of activities at our Center.  For a complimentary copy contact Bill (Newsletter at NCCIrishSociety.org).

Each year our Club presents the "Erin Award" to one of our members.  This is a very special honor that is given for his or her dedication and service within our Club throughout the year.

We participate in the  St. Patrick's Day parade sponsored by the Irish Culture Club of Delaware in Wilmington, on the Saturday before St. Patrick's Day. After the festivities at the Parade, an "After Parade Party" is held at our Irish Center where all are welcome to continue celebrating the day.  On St. Patrick's Day, we have a "Ham & Cabbage Lunch/Dinner".

"
Paddy's Pub", located on the lower level of our Irish Center, is open on Wednesday evenings from 8:00 to 11:00 P.M.  The PUB is open for members of NCCIS, but guests are welcomed to join us for a fun evening of Irish music and friendship.

Our Irish-themed Library is open to the public on Wednesday evenings from 7:00 to 9:00 P.M. and other hours on request. Contact Library (Library at NCCIrishSociety.org) for more information. We are a lending library for most of our books, videos, music and magazines. We offer a  comfortable sitting area for browsing or doing research.  Donations of Irish items are welcomed.

Our Membership is open to anyone who agrees with the purposes of the Irish Society.  If you wish to join please see the Membership page.
